Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies are the best homemade comfort food! Part healthy, part decadent. Let’s not kid around, there is nothing about 3/4 cup of shortening that is healthy, but there are oats for days!! It’s all about balance right? These are not made often in my house so I went for it, and for goodness sake… it is still cold and wet and miserable on the East Coast. Still perfect baking weather. 🙂

This is a basic and very common recipe. If it ain’t broken why try it differently? I have vivid memories of my mother making these on a winter or rainy day. They were full of oats and chocolate chips and quite good with a glass of plain cold milk.

These look really good – perfect for the cold, rainy weather we have been having! My childhood fave is the peanut butter cookie with the hershey kiss on top (taking advantage of the classic pb/chocolate combo)!
